Guinevere

This stunning medieval style gown was inspired by Pre- Raphaelite paintings which perfectly capture the traditional Victorian image of Arthurian legend. Although technically inaccurate for a period costume, it is designed to portray how the Victorians imagined these maidens in their flowing gowns, un-restrained by corsets and petticoats. It is the typical romantic image of the medieval era.

This particular gown is made from a beautiful two-colour, silk brocade, with a separate chemise underneath. The chemise has extra long sleeves which push up the fore arm to give an elegant ruched effect and it is trimmed at neck and wrist with a silver and pearl braid. The gown is fitted through princess-line seams and lacing at the back. It has a wide, boat neck which sits beautifully on the shoulders to reveal the chemise beneath. The attractive slim sleeves fit snugly to the upper arm and are slashed twice to show the softer hue of the undergarment. The sleeve is mock fastened with pearl buttons and trimmed with silver braid which follows the elegant line which tapers down from the elbow to a point in a very traditional medieval style. The gown is completed with a heavy silver braid to the neck and to the sleeve just above the elbow and the skirt flows out into a regal train.
