Laura

Laura first came to see me two years before her wedding with a firm idea of wearing a Victorian style riding habit in British Racing Green.  She hoped to be able to train her horse to carry her side saddle for the day and her fiancé is a huge racing fan.

She chose a deep green satin for the skirt and jacket and the lace patterned silk for the corset and jacket trimmings was woven to match with metallic gold which sparkled in the light.  The skirt wasn’t trained as all the length is at the front which I discovered while researching historical examples of riding habits.  The length was caught up at the back with vintage gold buttons which allowed a flash of gold lining to show underneath.

I also made a corseted outfit for Laura’s maid of honour, sweet little dresses and chiffon  capes for her four junior bridesmaids and seven waistcoats and cravats for the male members of the bridal party, including her baby nephew.
