Sarah
Sarah wanted a simple, unfussy, but tailored look for her wedding in Lincoln. She was inspired by the costumes of Dorcas Lane in BBC’s Lark Rise to Candleford,. She wanted to add a Victorian apron-style swag but without a big bustle. She planned to drive her pony and trap around the cathedral and she wanted to be able to wear the outfit again for carriage driving. We decided on a skirt and jacket combination with a separate overskirt which gave her two different looks. Under the jacket was a corset with buttoned straps inspired by another of Dorcas Lanes’ costumes to give Sarah yet another look for her evening reception.
Sarah chose a striking blue-grey silk dupion with a dark blue silk for the underskirt and corset. After receiving the beautiful venise lace trimming we changed the shade of the darker silk to match better. Vintage glass buttons finished off the look.
